Comment on 3 Easy Ways To Type The Degree Symbol (°) On A Laptop by RicD https://www.technize.com/blog/how-to-type-degree-symbol-on-a-laptop/#comment-16352 Tue, 10 May 2022 19:44:53 +0000 https://www.technize.com/?p=6441#comment-16352 In reply to Stupid Article.

On Apple device, hold down the number zero you will see a popup displaying the degree symbol, clicking it will past it into the document.

This is really a good article. He did explain two things, 1. How Microsoft programed it to work, 2. How to use the Character Map.

Using a web search for a degree symbol will take considerably longer, plus taking you out of the document being typed. Important, using the web for the degree symbol, what you copy may not match the font being used in your document. Truly, this is a very good article. Thank you, Prayas Chakma.

Just type it in in the search bar.

This article doesn’t actually explain how to type the degree symbol for windows, it just tells you to type it in the search bar somehow, without copying it. Where would you get it from? You can’t type it normally, how are you supposed to enter it into the search bar? If that requires you to copy it, you might as well copy it from somewhere online and skip all this.

Totally agree. The original Filemaker 1985- IDK — maybe 2005 was great! Easy and simple. In expensive. I used it for many years to run my business (one person, just customer or student records). It is now not only too expensive but also way too complicated. I wish some of these Mac apps could remember the original idea of the Mac — keep it simple. I wish my old filmmaker database could run on current Mac software!

The other point is that whenever a problem develops with a computer motherboard, folks should not go ahead and take risk associated with repairing that themselves because if it is not done properly it can lead to permanent damage to an entire laptop. It is usually safe to approach your dealer of your laptop for the repair of the motherboard. They’ve already technicians who’ve an know-how in dealing with mobile computer motherboard challenges and can carry out the right prognosis and accomplish repairs.

However, I’ve the viewpoint that netbooks are still not quite powerful enough to be a wise decision if you frequently do things that require many power, just like video editing and enhancing. But for internet surfing, word processing, and a lot other popular computer functions they are just great, provided you cannot mind the screen size. Thank you for sharing your opinions.

Comment on PCI-E WiFi Cards Versus USB WiFi – Which Is Best For You? by Function Over Form https://www.technize.com/blog/pci-e-wifi-card-vs-usb-wifi-adapter/#comment-14264 Wed, 09 Mar 2022 10:28:46 +0000 https://www.technize.com/?p=4006#comment-14264 An important point which has not been highlighted is the difference in speed between the 2 data bus which which are used. This is important as you will almost certainly have a lot of data running back and forth via any network card.
PCI / PCI-e will run much more quickly, cleanly and efficiently than USB (even USB3.0) this can result in bottlenecks and slowdowns as you are using the Universal Serial Bus which is kind of an easy, simple to incorporate anything into it (and we do) and as a result it is probably the slowest of data bus in your machine (kinda like a jack of all trades but master of none analogy).

Comment on NVMe PCIe vs. M.2 vs. SATA SSD – What are the Differences? by Malcolm morehead https://www.technize.com/blog/nvme-pcie-vs-m-2-vs-sata-ssd/#comment-13144 Fri, 28 Jan 2022 17:50:14 +0000 https://www.laptopchamp.com/?p=11024#comment-13144 I just had my IT friend give me a list of PC components and I’m using the new build. It’s about 4 months old and I’ve been digging into the depths to understand how this all works and how to do more upgrades myself as my friend stays so busy.
My MB’s PCIE arrangement gives me 1-x16 slot, 1-x4 and 4 -x1 slots. Already I’m out of good slots.
My nvidia with fans and memory is in x16 slot and my x4 slot houses my usb-c card so I can patch it to my front panel where my usb-c jack is located.
Sorry for all that background, but as a beginner, I question what kinds of uses can I have for the remaining -x1 2 slots.
I edit raw images with adobe and edit and render hd video with this pc
All my searching has not answered one question and that’s are there any adapters and m.2 drives that work off those slots?
I want to follow your articles/ or podcasts if they are available.
Thanks for the article I just finished. It compared sata, m.2 and PCIE drives.

It’s like all of us are supposed to be rich just because we own a business or something. None of the replacements are anything like FileMaker at all.
I just went to using a spreadsheet on google. I hate it, but Im not reinventing the wheel with a database, spending hours and hours learning it and realizing that it isn’t the same thing as FMPro. Claris! Give us a version we can afford.
